A Friend in Need

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

Scott Nehring, the creative force behind Nehring the Edge, suffered a heart attack this week and is in the hospital. We send our best wishes for a speedy recovery. Head over to his site to leave your own wishes.

JFK Redux

Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

I mentioned back in my review of Oliver Stone’s JFK that I was waiting impatiently for Vincent Bugliosi’s book on the assassination (and had been since Stone’s movie came out).

Well, I just found out yesterday that the book had been in stores since May. I can be such a doofus sometimes.

Another Milestone Reached: 300 reviews!

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

For those of you paying attention to such things (and if you are, God help you), Pride of the Yankees marked my 300th review on this site.

I had kind of hoped that the movie 300, coming to DVD at the end of the month, would have been review number 300, but I wasn’t going to go a month without posting just for a completely meaningless bit of serendipity.

Think I’m gonna hoist me a cold one tonight.

Kaboom Review

Sunday, June 24th, 2007

If you’re here, I thought you’d be interested in checking Kaboom Review, another movie review site run by Mike Blitz. He focuses primarily on action movies and does a great job, so if that’s your cup of tea, head on over and check it out.

Step Right Up, Ladies and Gentlemen!

Friday, September 29th, 2006

Scott Nehring’s Carnival of Cinema is now open for business.  Yours truly is included.

I must get back to posting so Scott will stop nagging me.  Sorry about the absence.  The new TV season has me momentarily distracted…

Cheers…

I Might Be Away for a Few Days

Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006

I will be attending the World Science Fiction Conviction in Anaheim, CA from today through Sunday, the 27th, so I may not get to watch another movie until next week. I am bringing a copy of V for Vendetta, so if I get some down time I might get to that one, but I can’t promise anything.

See you soon!

Decent Exposure

Thursday, March 9th, 2006

Our initial standpoint is simple: thanks to the effective democratization of multimedia and information technologies (IT), each citizen has the ability to potentialy become a “reporter” who can identify and offer high added-value information.

You’ll notice a new logo down the left side of the page. Stories from this blog are being picked up by a new site called Agoravox. Well, it’s not exactly new. The French-language version, Agoravox.fr, has been a very successful for some time, but they have just launched their English-language site.

They call themselves a “citizen journalism initiative,” meaning that they are, first, an aggregator of selected blogs from all over. Their writers can also submit stories directly to the site if they want. It’s certainly an interesting concept and I wish them a great deal of good fortune, and not only for the self-serving reason that it means greater exposure for my little site here.

I flattered that they selected me as one of their launch contributors. Pay them a visit, folks.
