Running out of Bond stories by Ian Fleming didn’t exactly stop those movies.

I never meant that Ludlum meant Bourne to be another Bond, only that he was inviting comparisons so that people would notice that Bourne was, in fact, an anti-Bond.

And Bond was an assassin of sorts, too, at least in the books. The moves kind of watered that down.

Considering there were only three books, I doubt there will be a fourth film. There is a video game in the works though, called “The Bourne Conspiracy”.

I don’t feel that bourne was meant to parallel bond at all – he’s not a spy, he’s an assassin. He is a hired killer who is on a quest for identity…his own identity. you hit the nail on the head – bourne is an ordinary guy. He was a military man who wanted to further serve his country. he’s not an upper-class, martini sipping spy with a jones for women he’d be better off without.

While I do hope that this is the final film in the series, I must say that I really thought this franchise got better as it went on.

BTW, Greengrass has joked that if a fourth film was made, it could be called THE BOURNE REDUNDANCY.
