I agree with you on most parts, but I actually don't believe that this was a 'minor delight'.I'm pleased that you think well of the movie, don't get me wrong. This movie is spectactular even if it is sometimes simplistic. While The Incredibles were a watchable, enjoyable and creative movie,it does not win my affection as The Iron Giant.I've yet to see Remi the rat yet but I'll get around to it.

My sister and I saw this when it was released in theaters. A birthday party of eight-year-olds had taken over the theater, so we both shrugged and said we'll probably have to come back and see it again since the kids were in fully bratty party mode. But we didn't have to fork over extra cash, because they all sat down and watched it. No interruptions at all.

It also cemented for me that mainstream animation (including Disney's fall off from the truly classics) is doing a disservice to kids by presenting them with ugly visuals and dumb stories with a few song and dance numbers thrown in because kids have to have that or it's only a cartoon and not worth extra effort.

This one's in my DVD collection and I still tear up at the ending, even though I know it. Very few movies make that cut. Now I need to get the rest of what Brad Bird has done just to support him.
