If Sophie did not toss the last pile of leaflets, they might not have been caught, but the efficiency of the Gestapo will eventually catch them anyway. It could be called Germany's Anne Frank. As a soldier in Company I, 26th Infantry Regiment, the guard unit for the Nurnberg War Crimes trials, I saw the trial of Ilse Koch, the Bitch of Buchenwald, who made lamp shades and other artifacts from prisoners' skins. It bought back memories how evil the Nazis were. They believe in thier own evil that they don't even realize that it was evil. I reviewed the film <a href="http://gracchii.blogspot.com/2006/11/sophie-scholl-white-rose-and-nature-of.html" rel="nofollow">here</a> myself and I'd forgotten since then the emotional impact of it. Julia Jentsch gives a wonderful performance- I think what captured me was the strength of her performance- you are absolutely right she isn't glamorous but I think she is charismatic and its her charisma that really dominates my memory of the film.
