I'm willing to forgive this movie its factual innaccuracies, since its plays out so well. Yeah it's melodramatic, even slightly cliche. But I'd probably lump it in with the remake of 3:10 TO YUMA as some of the best modern westerns. Plus you got it right on - every time Kilmer opens his mouth, a great line comes out.
