Come now, Even Karl Rove acknowledged years ago that the White House hanging the Mission Accomplished poster was a bad move on their part. He admitted doing it and that it was premature. In short, he admitted that the denial was a lie.

after President Bush declared “Mission Accomplished”

The poster was in honor of the crew of the USS Abraham Lincoln. Their mission was accomplished. The President was photographed in front of that banner by a clever White House employee when the President flew out to the Lincoln to congratulate the crew for accomplishing their mission in helping to topple Saddam Hussein.

That mission was accomplished. Nothing that has happened since in Iraq had anything to do with that mission not being accomplished. Here's part of what the president DID say:

"Our mission continues. Al Qaeda is wounded, not destroyed. The scattered cells of the terrorist network still operate in many nations, and we know from daily intelligence that they continue to plot against free people. The proliferation of deadly weapons remains a serious danger. The enemies of freedom are not idle, and neither are we. Our government has taken unprecedented measures to defend the homeland. And we will continue to hunt down the enemy before he can strike. (Applause.)"

You can't analyze history without first knowing the facts.
