Agree completely. He is physical and vulnerable, feeling and registering pain while being the somewhat superhuman Bond we expect.. I'm sorry, but having someone hit you in the nuts more than once with that monkeyfist know at the end of a heavy gauge hawser rope isn't something most men are going to ask for !!! But, his martial arts training is robust, and the writers dispense with the artificial ruse of teenage sexual innuendo cover identities. THANK YOU !!!! Craig plays the raw intensity of the moment very well. I hope the writers continue to give him the opportunity to be as excellent in the next Bond movies as his is in Casino Royale.

Well,.. after two years of thoroughly enjoying Casino Royale, and comparing it to Quantum of Solace, I concur wholeheartedly with this early 2007 commentary. Casino Royale is without doubt the best Bond film ever - all respect to Mr. Connery and the abilities of 1960's Hollywood. "Quantum" is a terrible reversal to those horrible years of Roger Moore. With the opening musical sequence now going straight back to the pukingly almost discreet nudes in musical movement, the Bond series abandons the edge that Casino Roayale's musical opening refreshingly sets the statement that THIS IS A NEW BOND. Further, Quantum's use of the new version of the weird unknown and unknowable secret bad organization that is going to take over the world, only says ho-hum... here we go again, screen writers have NO IMAGINATION and think that repeating the past is the way to go..

Casino Royale is a superb Bond Movie. it works closely enough with current events, to be believeable (sort of) and makes MI6 a better intelligence agency than the cartoonish buffoonery of the past 15 Bond movies.

PLEASE use "You Know My Name" as the set piece for every future Bond movie and stay with the reality of the day.

Craig's Bond feels more believable to me than some of the other incarnations. The appeal of Bond for me has always been his unwavering bravado. Craig maintains this confidence, but we still get to see him break a sweat. He's fallible. Being Bond, he'll defy all odds to recover from his mistakes, but they really seem like mistakes. In previous movies I have this vague impression of the plot conflicts involving him either hitting a run of bad luck or knowingly stepping on a land mine (usually for a girl). I love this Bond all the more for his errors in judgment.
