It just goes to show, Darren, how poorly this film has aged. Who remembers the Pump anymore?

The “Nike Air” shoe reference in the movie is NOT a Nike reference at all … that is how ambiguous the movie is … it is actually a reference to the “REEBOK PUMP” shoe that was available at the time. They had a air pump button on the tongue to pump air into the sides and soles of the shoe.

Mel Brooks’ movies have always made me laugh. Yes, even the semi-serious “Life Stinks.” It seems almost fitting that, after that, He would go back to off-the-wall parodies. With Men in Tights, He came back in a big way. Everything, from the writing, to the acting and directing, was right on.

However, I do have one question: When will Mel ever direct another movie?

Since this is copyrighted material, I would suggest contracting 20th Century Fox. I don’t know of any stage versions.

I want to do this as a play in community theater in Washington State. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the script? Was it ever set as a play? Does anyone have any information on it?
