Not only does Pacino’s character remain sympathetic throughout the film, the film never portrays the police as “the real bad guys.” If a director did a remake of the movie, they would almost certainly make the police out to be facists or cruel, so that the audience would know the bank robber was the “real hero.” It’s great that the movie never portrays any character as an angel or a devil.
