As stated before, to me this movie was not memorable… there were parts of the movie where R. Scott shines, and there are so many more parts where he fails. I think a part of this is due to the fact that we know he can do better (ie: Gladiator). This works in reverse for directors that haven’t done the best jobs (like Michael Bay with The Island). I watched it, won’t buy it… maybe a uncut version later…

LEILANI: Yes, the slapping of the boy was necessary. Under the old school property laws (back before they had recording devices), when they transferred property, the child was there as a witness to the sale. And they hit him so he would remember. It’s called the livery of seisin.

That being said, I hated this movie. I thought it was pointless. Good objective review, though. ;P

This movie and what really happened are two different things.

A good blog with a lot of insightful thoughts. I will be coming back very often.

I watched this with a bunch of friends when it first came out. Throughout most of the movie we couldn’t stop laughing. I don’t mean that in a bad way it’s just some parts were too funny to avoid laughing. Was it necessary for him to slap that boy like his father did? And what about the end with repeating “I am the king, I am the blacksmith, I am the king, I am the blacksmith”. There’s no denying Guy’s body language was funny. I just wish he had tossed his hair more. God wills it!

As for KoH, I did think the scene at the wall in Kingdom of Heaven, when one army was fighting to get in and the other army was fighting to keep them out… and the camera comes up over top and blurs it all out – wow, what a powerful moment. I am a fan of Ridley, maybe I cut him some extra slack bcz I admire his work as a whole? … Keep up the fun blog! And congrats on your review from Blogger!

I thought this was a very good movie and if not knowing was going to happen this movie would leave you in suspense for the next movies. I will continue to read your reviews as I love movies myself.

Nice review…

I found this film one of those not bad but utterly unmemorable films, along the lines of Troy. Some cool details in there, like the leper king of Jerusalem, but Orlando just made me groan. He really isn’t fit for acting anything other than a pointy-eared sniping elvish poof… maybe ’cause HE IS ONE.
