As much as I love this movie, I still think that Brian Cox as Lecter is better than Hopkins. I know that I go against popular opinion, but I thought his was a more nuanced performance.

Hopkins, especially in the truly dreadful Hannibal, was too over the top. Lecter (having read the books) strikes me as a much more refined and cool character than Hopkins' acting shows. Cox give Lecter more menace.

I prefer Hopkins in his role in Audrey Rose. Not that this is the best movie in the world, but his acting was more restrained

nice blog

Regards
Dimple

http://medquip.com.au

At least I'm not alone after all. The not-romance factor in Clarice and Lecter's relationship is one of the reasons I like curling up with this movie every so often.

Silence of the Lambs is one of my all time favorites, especially at Halloween. It's rare to find a movie with the scare-your-pants-off quality without the slasher blood and gore. And having read the book at least twice, I found the movie faithful to the characters and the story itself.

Ted Levine's performance as Buffalo Bill should not be overlooked. To me he's a real "man's man" kind of guy yet he plays this transgendered serial killer devoted to his pet dog, Precious. Does anyone recall his full frontal in the mirror with tucked-in genitals? So pretty. Now *that* was chilling.

Dude, I'm so glad I found your blog. I linked it to mine, fakemoviecritic.blogspot. Rock on.

Oh, good one. The first time I saw this movie, I was completely scared shitless!

CHILLS ran up my spine as Hopkins says, "I ate his liver with a side of fava beans" and then sucks on his lips.

Almost 15 years old and counting, this movie still freaks me out!!
